What are Terpenes?

Terpenes are naturally occurring aromatic compounds found in all plants, herbs and flowers and are the foundational basis of essential oils. Terpenes provide the scent and taste of the plant and also serve as a protection for the plant itself against predators.

Terpenes have long been used medicinally by ancient cultures and are also used currently in the development of many pharmaceutical medications and cosmetics. The Cannabis Sativa (HEMP) plant possesses an abundance of terpenes that work synergistically with the cannabinoids to provide beneficial properties and effects. The presence of certain terpenes found in HEMP strains are produced genetically. The richness of terpenes are brought out by various cultivation practices. We believe that naturally amended soil grown hemp plants bring out the richest terpenes that are genetically present in the plant. See terpene charts.
